A river cruise in Bordeaux
Ah, the glorious vineyards of France in summer… just thinking about it makes us want to pour a glass of wine. One of our clients did more than just think about it, however, and in August we operated our first luxury river cruise in Bordeaux tailored to our client’s group.
Bordeaux, alongside its verdant vines, has medieval villages and stunning scenery aplenty, and river cruising along the rivers Garonne and Gironde provides a unique and relaxing view of this idyllic French region. The cruise was run by CroisiEurope, which meant that the boat was essentially like a floating hotel with spacious cabins and an excellent level of service. Accommodation is provided on a full board basis, with drinks included, and the cuisine conforms to high French standards at each meal.
Generally on CroisEurope’s trips, the mornings are spent sailing, with visits to towns or attractions made in the afternoons. This group’s visits included the magnificent Blaye Citadel, the medieval town of Saint-Emilion, the prestigious Château de Roquetaillade, the walled town of Cadillac and the beautiful city of Bordeaux. Of course, no visit to this area would be complete without a wine tasting or two, and the group also sampled the fine wines of the Médoc and the Sauternes areas.
